This past weekend we celebrated 2-birthdays in the Bodnar family. Mr. Patrick turned 13 years old this past Wednesday...a teenager!!! Look out Steve and Coletta...we also celebrated Steve's 41st birthday on Friday. We also had the adult fishing contest this Saturday at Tri-boro....unfortunately, the adults did not have as much luck as the kids did last Saturday, but fun was had by all. As you will see below, you will see the cake that Coletta made for Patrick and some other pictures from this weekend....enjoy.

Easter Sunday

Well, it is now Easter Sunday evening..and we are all exhausted....it has been a long weekend and a very long day. We had a gorgeous day with those blue skies I talked about below....however it was windy, so the wind has knocked wind out of us!...and I actually got a bit of sunburn on my chest today...it was a day full of family. We started out at Rogers house, where it was us, Roger, Chris & Jen and baby Chase..and Steve & Coletta and family...we had a nice casual lunch and than the eggs came out and we hid them on the kids....and of course the whiffle balls and bats came out and the boys and the men played whiffleball. We than headed over to Aunt Carols and the kids played baseball again and we just sat relaxed with each other. The boys and I are off again tomorrow, but B. Mike needs to go back to work so he is already in bed. I'm off to have a piece of peanut butter pie that noone ate today because there was so much other stuff to eat. Enjoy our day.

Kids fishing contest

Just a quick little blip about our Saturday before Easter...it was the kids fishing contest....which my Michael is now too old to participate in...so he was the helpful brother and cousin and friend yesterday. It was a gorgeous day yesteray...a bit windy, but we spent the entire day outside yesterday. All the kids did very well fishing with Nick taking 4th place and Patrick 5th place. More photos to follow with Easter Sunday upon us......Hoppy Easter!

All the cousins and friends in the morning.....

How many kids does it take to get a fish off the hook?..
Here is our little fisherman in his very well fitting Akubra...this was the 4th place fish he caught...an 18inch rainbow trout.

Fishing Season!....

Here I sit...April Fool's Day....4-1-12...(noone tried to pull a fast one on me)....yesterday was opening day for fishing and the boys were sooooooooooooooo very excited.....Mike and the boys slept out in the camper Friday night.....so they could be ready for early Saturday morning when it is time to put the fish in...they were up by like 6am and had a very loooonnggggg day......Mom stayed at home Friday night allll by herself....I think I have done this the past few opening days.....you see, I am NOT a fisherperson....my version of fishing is to take a book and read. No desire, don't like it.....anyways...I had a lovely night/day and the boys had a great time fishing....the photo from below is actually from Sunday in our back yard...they went down back to the creek and went fishing again...Mike and I were working on landscaping/mulching and than I actually bartended for 4hours this arvo..(Mike was supposed to bartend but he wanted to fish with the boys and his neck has been bothering him)...so me, being the wonderful wife that I am, I bartended for my lovely husband......

This week is a short week for us in the school profession and for students...with Easter being this weekend, and having no snow make up days, we only have 3days of school...and than a small "spring" break...so I work M/T/W and than am off until next Tuesday!..woot-woot!...ready for a small break...

I also want to say Congrats to me bestie Leanne....I am so unbelieveably proud of you!!!...you are most certainly up and coming and doing so well!...Still waiting to chat with you, but for now, will keep reading your blogs as well...love and miss you my friend!

A little update from the Bodnar Family....below you will see some photos of Nick and his ice hockey team. They were in a tournament last weekend...they played 3-games on Saturday...the 1st one at 730am!!...the 2nd at 1030am...and the 3rd at 3pm......after going through an undefeated season (18-0)...they had their first lost with the 1030am game...they were just tuckered out....but, by winning the 3pm game, they went on and played in the championship game which took place on Sunday at 11am....and they WON.......and it was the same team that they had lost to the day prior......PLUS Nick had 2 goals in the championship game!...he played a great game as did the rest of his team.. 4 goals in total for the whole weekend...we were all very proud....with the exception of the 730am game, Nick had tons of "fans" (aka family and friends) watching from up above. Now hockey is over and baseball is just around the corner and I'll tell you, everyone is getting spring fever as we had some gorgeous weather this week....it of course was followed by cold wind and blowing snow the next day, but this is "almost" spring for us...but luckily the week on tap has spring weather coming up again...highs of 70F (21C)....YIPPEEEE ..can you tell I am ready for spring....and speaking of spring, we spring forward this weekend.....just FYI

As I sit here and type this this Saturday morning, we have blue skies out there and not a cloud in sight....the boys are going to work on the baseball fields this morning/day and I am going to get my hair colored...so I need to get myself some breakfast and wake Nick up....
Nick is allllll the way on the right and is sort of facing the camera...the only oddball of the bunch..

What's been happening......

I see its been over 1-month since I've posted anything.....my bad....

Last weekend, we headed up to my brother's house up in New Hamphire, which has turned into a yearly trip. We were hoping to hit some good snow, since we have hardly had any in our area this year...it has been a very bland winter. The New England area hasn't been much better.....yes, up high in the mountains they did have snow, but it was the worst we have seen in years!....It was a few days of relaxing and getting away from it all. Our first day there, I spent the day reading...finished the 2nd book that Leanne sent to me (loved them both)...and than started on "The Help"..which I am also loving...the boys spent the day outside with Uncle John pottering around. At night we we went to meet Jen and Benton after school to go swimming and than for pizza.....on Friday, all the boys went to Mad River Glen to go skiing for the day. Luckily MRG got some snow over night and they had a great day of skiing. Jen, Adelaide and myself had a girls day out. Went to see Addie in her tumbling class, had lunch and went to visit Jen's school. Also met some of the teachers after school for a drink as they had the next week off for winter break. Saturday was also just chilling around the house. Boys tried to go ice fishing, but it was very cold and very windy on the lake, so they came back. We came home on Sunday evening. It was a lovely few days, as we always love "getting away from it all"....as John and Jen still do not have internet or cable TV at their house..and no cell phone reception. (and sorry to say Leanne, no snow, no photos....again, my bad)...

What else has been happening?...Nick has finsihed his regular season of ice hockey...they went undefeated and he played extremely well for his first year on the ice ....Michael has been "lifting" after school with the weightlifting club. He is getting sooooo big....he is now as tall as I am and his foot size is bigger than big Mike's!!!! He also made distinguished honor roll this last marking period which is the highest honor you can get. He has also chosen his classes for next year when he moves on to the High School and 9th grade is when his credits all begin to count for graduation----this is all going so very quickly!!!...Nick also is doing well in school...it's a bit more of a struggle with him and school---Nick thinks school is a bit of a ...umm...."interference"?....he hates doing homework, hates studying...just not into yet....such a difference from his big brother....hopefully this shall pass.....because when he does apply himself, he does very well.....

Baseball season is just around the corner....since spring is about 1-month away, "talk" has certainly turned to baseball. Football is over, ice hockey is over and the boys are ready for some ball!....me too!!!

Well, it is now 649am and I need to get Nick up as he as band practice this morning--before---school at 745am...well, he has to be there at 745am, so I need to get him up and moving..plus I am still in pj's and have nothing done!...no hair, makeup and no lunch made!....gotta go!...

A week later....

Here I sit Saturday morning...848am...and it is snowing outside-----finally...1st time since October....us winter people who like the changes in the seasons have been missing the snow that we are supposed to get in winter time....and it finally is here today!...(wait till Nick wakes up and realizes that he can't go out in it!)....

Speaking of Nick...he is feeling much better!...he went to the dr. on Thursday and has gotten the all clear from them...his throat is still healing, but looking good....the pain he is still having in his ears, is all normal....and his appetite is coming back!...good thing because he lost almost 5lbs in a week......dad was home with him this week from T-F...and he (Nick) was also the cook for the week...so yes, we ate soft things that had no crust or no crispiness to it.....(wow the snow is really coming down now!!!)...so Nick will go back to school Monday morning, barring any issues that come up this weekend....he still has some homework to complete, so we will be working on that today/tomorrow....

Not much else will be happening today...will need to shovel the driveway and the front sidewalk...and we will probably work on a model of a plane---you see, our one neighbor is I think 85years old and is a WWII vet and he flew planes and his wife had bought this model of the actual plane that he flew in the war. Well, noone in his family knows how to work on models...so Mike and the boys have taken the model and have started working on it. (they, the family, has had this model for over 2 years)...so, I'm thinking today will be a good day to work on it...(can't wait to show him this plane!)...

Nick's surgery....

Yesterday Nicholas had some surgery done....he had his tonsils and adenoids removed and something called turbinate hypertrophy (sp) done on his nose. We were at the hospital at 715am and by 8am he was being wheeled in surgery and I was out in waiting room reading my newest book. (When my husband does the dishes) Thanks Leanne...anyways...by 835am, Dr. Dedio was out speaking with me letting me know he was done and all went well, his tonsils and adenoids were huge...so we should be expecting great results once all healed up. Coming out of the anesthesia for Nick was a bit bumpy, he started thrashing about and pulled his own IV out...had blood squirting everywhere....and than once we started to move him, he vomited...so it took us a bit to get moving, but that was ok. We made it home and snuggled on the couch---all afternoon....he has been eating very little, but drinking like a champ and they say that is the most important thing. So, it is now Friday, January 13th!....and we are snuggling in bed and watching the snow blow outside the window!...we have gotten some cold air and wind coming down from Canada, so glad to be on this side of the window!...

A New Year....

January 5, 2012....where has the time gone...sorry for not posting earlier....once our holidays were over, it was back to work and school straight away. It was a very "short" xmas holiday in many peoples eyes...but it is was it is....so I sit here on the couch..fire going downstairs and trying to stay warm...it has been very cold of late---winter is finally here. Mike has gone off to Tri-boro for monthly meeting and I sent the boys upstairs to put away there clothing and now they are playing music and cleaning!...what!?...I didn't tell them to clean, but I will not speak a word.

Had taken Nicholas to the doctor today....this was a re-schedule w/different doctor to get his surgery back online for next week. Nicholas is having his tonsils and adnoids removed and some basic surgery on his nose to open it up. The dr. said "if you want you can wait and see how he goes, or we can move ahead, as he could definately benefit from it"...we are moving forward....I truly am looking forward to NOT hearing him snore anymore or breath with his mouth open. He said the removal of the adenoids should really take care of that problem as they are a huge "cork" as they block the back of the nose and are a huge cause of snoring....we shall see...his surgery is set for January 12th...he will be out of school until January 23rd...Mike and I are both taking time off of work to stay home with him.....keep Nicholas in your thoughts on January 12th..or rather...5-7 days after that as that is when the scabs will really be bothering him.....

Hmmmm...what else is happening....Justin has been very sick lately..He started not feeling well on Xmas day and has been running fever on and off since then.....they drew blood today and are testing him for mono....he feels like crap and is very tired and achey....

All the Bodnar boys were down in Philadelphia last night for an outdoor ice hockey game....they did not get home until midnight and although they had a great time, we had some very tired boys this morning...including Big Mike!!!!...Mom had a nice night all to her self....watched a few epidsodes of McLeods Daughters..(thanks Leanne!).....

I am so glad all my Australian family enjoyed there Xmas gifts...glad to see everything fits! Looks like you all had a great time down at the coast...(jealous)

Well, Nicholas would like to snuggle...they are done cleaning and it is pj time....hope everyone is doing well!....Cheers!
